Measuring for your head size is both an art and a science. You can use a tape measure (or a length of string that you will have to hold up to a tape measure) to determine the length. Place the string or tape around your head about 1/8" above your ear, across the mid-forehead, completely circling your head. Hold the tape firmly, but not too tightly. Basically you need to measure your head exactly where the hat will sit.  If your measurement falls between sizes, choose the next largest size.

If a hat is larger than your actual size, spacers can be used inside the inner band to make the hat fit.  I will be happy to provide them for you.  It's simple to do so you can put them in or I will before I ship the hat to you.  They are just as easily removed.

If a hat is too small, it will never work.  No one wants a tiny little hat perched on top of their head.  The exception, of course, is a "Fascinator" type hat.  An example is  G100n in the Smaller Heads Collection.  A "Fascinator" will fit any head.  It is just fastened jauntily on the top or side of your head.  

Please remember that a hat is not a bucket.  It should be worn comfortably around your head, well above the ears, and with the appropriate "tilt" depending on the style.  I tried to take the gallery pictures of the hats with the suggested placement. Remember, however, that it is YOUR hat and you can wear it any way that feels good and pleases your aesthetics.
